A new chapter of the Life C4R project is beginning, promoted by Epta and co-financed by the European Union, with the inauguration of the Consum store of Benicasim in Spain. A store designed by Epta Iberia that is an example of the commitment of the Brand and of the Group to sustainability.

Consum, the largest cooperative of the Spanish Mediterranean region, is particularly attentive to reducing the environmental impact: 100 % of its stores is eco-friendly and, thanks to a policy of continuous investments, it boasts a 21.6% reduction in the carbon footprint compared to 2015 figures. The key factors that allow it to achieve such standards of excellence include the use of natural refrigerant gases like transcritical CO2, already used by Epta in 25 stores with the FTE Full Transcritical Efficiency.

Diego Ortega, Trade Marketing Manager of Epta Iberia declares “When we suggested to Consum to participate in the Life C4R initiative and implement the first Spanish project together, the Brand immediately decided to join the programme: a further confirmation of the importance of its responsible approach, as founding value. Life C4R was born to raise awareness in the scientific community and among the players of the Retail world, showing how it is possible to fully replace HCFC and HFC refrigerants with transcritical CO2 in any climatic condition. ”

The store was identified because, due to its Mediterranean climate, the area of Valencia is suitable for assessing the performances and obtain objective data of the environmental impact of FTE and ETE Systems. Compared to a system developed with HFC, the Benecassim store will ensure a saving of 21,548 kWh/year, equal to 23,344 washing machine cycles.

Finally, the installation is completed by the Costan branded cabinets chosen to furnish the fresh and frozen product area merging performance and design. Worthy of mention are also the vertical GranVista Next and GranBering of the GranFit family, certified class A + by the Eurovent-Certita Certification programme and the traditional Velvet with Design aesthetic for the Butcher and Delicatessen area.
