4th pilot project
DAAS, a company of Epta Group that provides turnkey retail projects in Romania, realises the first Life C4R project in this country, at the Mega Image chain store of Sibiu, in Transylvania.
The LIFE C4R programme – Carbon for Retail Refrigeration – promoted by the Group and co-financed by the European Union according to the LIFE 17 CCM/IT/000120 grant agreement was born with the goal of demonstrating that it is possible, anywhere and simply, to replace the HCFC and HFC refrigerants with transcritical CO2. Life C4R involves the realisation of pilot prototypes installed and tested at Italian retailers and at least four replicas in the rest of the EU including Romania and Spain.
At the heart of the project for the Sibiu store is the installation of an Eco2Small pack and the patented FTE 2.0 Full Transcritical Efficiency system which, thanks to the monitoring and heat recovery system and to the high efficiency Costan refrigerated cabinets proposed by DAAS, allow to respond to the requirements of the retail company to reduce the supermarket carbon footprint. This installation is designed to reduce consumption by 10% compared to an equivalent with HFC, to save 38,573 kWh/year, equal to 41,787 fewer washing machine cycles/year or 1,052 less small cars in 10 years (considering 10,000 km travelled per year).
The efficiency combines with the best presentation of the products, thanks to the Costan refrigerated cabinets chosen, which include the best-in class refrigerated cabinets GranVista Next Closed and Open for pre-packaged fresh products, the combined Cayman for frozen products, and the serve-over Velvet refrigerated display cabinets.
